Societal Impact of Research Workshop Summit

Cape Town, South Africa

14 – 15 October 2024

We present to you the Societal Impact of Research workshop summit – a pre-conference event.

From the 14-18 of October, AESIS will be organising an Impact Week in Cape Town, South Africa. Starting on Monday at midday, there will be a workshop summit lasting a total of a day and a half. This pre-conference event will be the ideal warm up to the annual Societal Impact of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts conference.

How to: Summit

The one and half-day event will be composed of the opening and closing plenary sessions and there will be a total of four in-depth workshops. Divided into groups of around 25 participants, you will be rotating through the four workshops throughout the day and a half, getting a chance to visit all of them and not having to choose. This will allow you to interact in a close and orderly manner with your trainers and other fellow participants.

At the end of the summit we invite you to join the Bridging Reception where you can further interact with the participants as well as experts from both the workshop and also those arriving for the annual conference which will follow until the end of the week. Whether you would like to join either or both, it is all possible.

Topics to expect:

  • How to support researchers in achieving research impact and in planning for impact
  • Impact statements, funding proposals, and evaluations/ex-ante assessment
  • Increasing and supporting interdisciplinary research
  • Demonstrating impact – ex-post assessment, case studies and communication

Workshop Summit Programme coming soon.
